Grandma Marie's Sweet Potatoes
“Tips: Lynn uses quite a bit of nutmeg and no salt. The bourbon is optional (though not if you are named Marie or Helen). If you have leftovers and the yams are too dry, just add a little milk when you reheat.
Also, this recipe works better with yams than sweet potatoes (Lynn has tried both).”
Ingredients
2 ½ pounds jams
Salt and nutmeg to tase
½ cup butter, melted
1 ¼ cup white sugar
3 eggs well beaten
⅓ cup bourbon
Tiny marshmallows
Directions
Boil yams, cool and beat. Fold everything in except the bourbon. Put in casserole dish. Can be made several days ahead of time.
Just before putting in a 350 degree oven, fold in the bourbon and top with marshmallows. Bake for about 45 minutes.
