Spaghetti Sauce Ala Grandma Marie

 
Our family’s recipe often don’t include quantities. The written version of this spaghetti recipe doesn’t say how much of the various tomato products to use. It says add water to make the desired consistency. It also says to use more tomato sauce than tomato paste. (1 little paste per 4 qt saucepan.
 
 

Ingredients

1 pound ground chuck

Olive oil

2 or 3 large onions, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

Parsley, fresh flat leaf Italian parsley is best, curly works, dried parsley will work

Stewed Tomatoes

Tomato sauce

Tomato paste

Bell pepper

Italian seasoning, salt and pepper

Sugar, optional

Directions

Brown the ground chuck in a little oil.

Add the chopped onions and cook until limp.

Add the garlic and parsley.

Add Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.

Add the tomatoes and bell pepper.

Add a little sugar to cut the acidity of the tomatoes, if desired. (Not in the original recipe)

Cook slowly for 4 hours
